Dean Anderson Obituary

Dean Anderson, 86, of Argyle, MN, passed away early Friday morning, March 15, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.

Dean Alden Anderson was born on June 26, 1937 on the family farm (which was east of Stephen, MN), the son of Otto and Agnes Anderson. He was raised in Stephen where he played basketball for the Stephen Tigers (evidently he was a pretty good player) and he graduated with the Class of 1955. On October 1, 1960, Dean married Linda Hangsleben at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Argyle. They made their home in Argyle where he worked for Witcher Construction and Borowicz Construction. Dean had a love for concrete.

He was a member of Our Savior's Free Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Board. Dean was also a member of the Gun Club.

Dean enjoyed hunting and fishing. Many memories were made with family and friends while being in the outdoors. He loved sports, especially watching the Twins and Vikings and following high school basketball. Dean enjoyed visiting with people. Many nights you would find him sitting outside listening to sports and visiting with those who would stop by for a chat. Dean and Linda always had the coffee pot on and a treat for those who stopped by to visit. He had an immaculate garden and he enjoyed sharing his harvest with others. Dean was passionate about his potatoes. They also enjoyed berry picking. Dean and Linda were known for their lefse, donuts, thin bread and the best popcorn balls at Halloween.

His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dean loved spoiling them and giving them treats. He was proud of each of them. One of the grandchildren's favorite Christmas Day memories was making homemade ice cream.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife of over 63 years, Linda; children, Jeff (Liz) Anderson and Jayson Anderson, all of Argyle, MN; son-in-law, Charles (Kathy) LaBine of Argyle, MN; seven grandchildren, Gabriel LaBine, Jane LaBine, Hannah LaBine, Tyler (Ashli) Anderson, Shawn (Kayla) Anderson, Nathan Anderson and Kayla (Matt) Benson, and five great-grandchildren, Greyson, Brynlee and Brayden Benson, Nels Anderson, and Calum Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Agnes; daughter, Cynthia LaBine, son, John Anderson; brother, Wendell Anderson and sisters, Evelyn Schmidt, and Mavis Becklund.
