Allen “Al” Jevning, 78, of Warren, MN, passed away on Friday evening, December 16, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Allen D. Jevning was born on February 8, 1938 in Hallock, MN, the son of Olaf and Evelyn (Peterson) Jevning. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Allen graduated from Hallock High School in 1956. He enlisted in the US Army in 1957 and attended signal school where he worked as a radio equipment repairman. From 1958 – 1960, Al took basic at Ft. Bliss, TX and was stationed in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada where he did testing on the northern lights. After his discharge, he moved to Warren where he owned and operated the Warren Bakery. On April 18, 1987, he married Laura Anfinson. They made their home in Warren, East Grand Forks, MN and Devils Lake, ND before returning to Warren in 2011. Allen worked in insurance for Bremer Bank and Western State Bank for many years before retiring.
He was a member of the Warren Volunteer Fire Department for 18 years where he served as Fire Chief for several years. Allen was also a member of Lions Club and American Legion.
Al enjoyed golfing with family and friends and going with Laura to their annual trip to Kimount, MN with friends.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Laura; children, Bret (Suzette) Jevning of Brainerd, MN, Joel (Marie) Jevning of Warren, MN, Barb Jevning of Fargo, ND and Michelle Strickler of Warren, MN; eight grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Suzie) Jevning of Warren, MN; sisters, Dian (John) Reich of Henderson, NV and Cathy (Richard) Johnson of Kennedy, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Loyce Hoglin, Erlyce Blomquist and Shirley Petersburg and brothers, Lowell, James and Wayne.
SERVICE: 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.
VISITATION: 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service on Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren and one hour before services on Thursday at the church.
INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN
