Bernice Blazejewski

Bernice Blazejewski, 90, of Strandquist, MN, passed away on June 27, 2015, in Sanford Health, Thief River Falls, MN.

Bernice Bernadette was born on June 16, 1925, in Wright Township, Marshall County, MN, to Stanley and Clara (Gajeski) Chwialkowski. On August 5, 1945, Bernice was united in marriage to Anton Edward Blazejewski, in Assumption Catholic Church, Florian, MN. The young couple made their home in Warren, MN. In 1963, they moved to the Blazejewski homestead in Wright Township, where they farmed. She was a lifelong resident of Marshall County.

Bernice helped Ed with the farm work and worked several jobs over the years, in addition to raising their three boys. She worked at the Land-O-Lakes turkey plant in Thief River, as well as in the sewing division at the Arctic plant.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing cards, and doing word searches. She was a member of the Assumption Church Ladies Aide, the Florian Polish Choir, and the Strandquist American Legion Auxiliary.

Bernice will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and a devoted wife.

Left to mourn her passing are her sons, Donald “DI” (Jan) of Ringgold, GA, Floyd (Marian) and Vernon (Theresa) both of Strandquist; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, who passed away on March 18, 1993, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 10:30 AM, in Assumption Catholic Church, Florian, MN. Visitation: Wednesday, July 1, from 5-7, in Assumption Catholic Church, with a Rosary at 6:40 and a prayer service at 7 PM, and also one hour before Mass. Interment: Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Florian.
