Dustino "Nino" Casares

August 30, 2010 ~ June 18, 2016 (age 5) 5 Years Old

Dustino “Nino” Casares, age 5, was received into his Eternal Home on Saturday, June 18, 2016, after an accident in the Tamarac River, Florian Park, Marshall County, MN.

Dustino Nathaniel Casares was born on August 30, 2010, to Sonia Ortiz and David H. Casares Jr., in San Antonio, TX. Nino spent his first two years of life there, along with his brothers and sister, before the family moved to Warren. Whether it was spending time with Grandpa and Grandma, going fishing with his uncle, Jake, or playing with his siblings, Nino loved to spend time with his family and make them laugh.

Nino was a very special boy who made a huge impact on many in the community in his five short years on this earth. He was larger than life, bringing smiles to even strangers’ faces, as he let his friendly demeanor shine. He was never very verbal, preferring to let his big-hearted friendliness do the talking for him, and he communicated best with his big brown eyes and even bigger smile. Rather than throw a fit, Nino knew the best way to get something he wanted (maybe chocolate milk) was to calmly hold his parents’ faces in his hands, cross his eyes, and wait: how could anyone say “No” to such a sincere and goofy request?

Despite being the baby of the family, Dustino had a fierce independent streak. He was brave and strong and those who had the privilege of watching him sometimes had their hands full trying to hold him back! He loved running and being wild, fearlessly playing outdoors, and pretending to be a Ninja Turtle.

The many graces Nino has left behind for his family are few in comparison to the gracefulness which he, himself, lived daily. May those graces continue to multiply in the hearts of those who love him now that he is living eternally in his Father’s house.

Dustino is survived by his parents, Sonia and David Jr.; his siblings, David III, Devin, Dianalicia, and Dominick; grandparents, Jesse and Leticia Ortiz, and David Sr. and Guadalupe Casares; great-grandma, Concha Hernandez; aunts and uncles, Jessica (Jacob) Torres, Jesus (Jessica) Ortiz, and Esmerelda Ortiz, and Roxanne, and Gabriel Casares; and cousins, Johnny, Juelz, and Jeslyn.

Nino’s great-grandparents and many other relatives were there to welcome him on Saturday as he entered into heaven.
