Elaine St. Germain

Elaine St. Germain, 94, of Stephen, MN, formerly of Argyle, MN, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND.

Elaine Isabella was born on October 3, 1922, to Emery and Alba (Fournier) DuFault, on the family farm northwest of Argyle, MN. She attended the convent school in Argyle through the 8th grade. As a girl, she made the acquaintance of Aime St. Germain, the older brother of a friend. Several years later, they began going steady and found that they had a lot in common. For instance, they were born only 8 hours apart with the help of the same county doctor. Elaine was light on her feet in her younger years, despite childhood polio, and the young couple loved to go dancing when they were able.

Elaine was united in marriage to Aime on March 4, 1943, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. The couple made their home on a farm outside of town, where Elaine raised their children and kept house. She was very active in her church choir and the local American Legion Auxiliary. In 2013, Elaine and Aime moved to Tamarac Assisted Living in Stephen, MN, and enjoyed their neighbors and staff immensely.

In addition to her husband of 74 years, Aime; Elaine is survived by her children, Carol Larson of Stephen, Linda Kuznia of Stephen, Edward (Judy) St. Germain of Argyle, Joel (Renae) St. Germain of Argyle, Susan Neegard of East Grand Forks, MN, and Mary St. Germain of Argyle; eighteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Aurore Bedard and Theresa Knutson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jay; grandson, Brad St. Germain; and sons-in-law, Rick Neegard and Curtis Larson.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials are Preferred to the Marshall County Group Home in Argyle, or the ODC in Warren, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 AM on Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Argyle, MN.

Visitation: One hour before services

Interment: St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Argyle, MN
