Jean Marion Knutson

Jean Marion Knutson, 82, of Warren, MN, formerly of Oslo, MN, passed away on Thursday,May 21, 2015 at Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN.

Jean Marion Brosdahl was born in Warren, MN on October 25, 1932, the daughter of Hans and Edna (Berg) Brosdahl. Her childhood was spent in the rural area between Warren, MN and Argyle, MN in Alma Township where she attended the Schey Country School. Her childhood was shared with 3 siblings: Kenneth, Dale, and Eunice, all of whom preceded her in death. As a teenager, she attended to the Warren High School where she graduated in 1950. She then graduated from Teacher's Training in the spring of 1951 and continued with college training from Moorhead State University during the next several summers at the Warren High School. After completion of her education, she taught in rural schools in the Viking and Tabor Area.A chance meeting took place when Jean and some friends decided to go roller skating at Oslo one day. She was noticed by Maurice Knutson, who asked a mutual friend of both of them to introduce him to Jean. After that, neither of them ever dated anyone else.

On January 2, 1954, She was married to Maurice Knutson at Alma Lutheran Church in rural Argyle, MN. Their first home was in a trailer house situated right next to the Tabor school where Jean was teaching. A short time later they relocated to Maurice's family farm in Bigwoods Township where they remained for the majority of their lives, raising their two sons and living the good farm life together. She was a very active member of the Bigwoods Lutheran Church, being Sunday School Superintendant and teacher, deeply involved in Ladies Aid, quilting, and any other church activities where her assistance was needed.

Jean loved sewing, ceramics and various other crafts, gardening, cooking, canning, and baking, and she was a Master at all of these. Her overnight buns were delicious and are fondly remembered by anyone who ever tasted one. She was a loving caring Mother, and her grandchildren were the light of her world. She loved to travel and visit new places, which she didn't get the chance to do until she married Maurice. Maurice loved to travel and took the family to many interesting places. He truly opened up the world for her and she completely adored him for that. Her beloved husband Maurice passed away on May 22, 2012. Jean moved to Warren shortly after Maurice passed away.

Jean was a kind and wonderful woman always concerned for others first and never asking for anything for herself. May God bless her soul.

Left to mourn her passing are two sons, Randy Knutson of Thief River Falls, MN and Harlan Knutson of Oslo, MN; five grandchildren, Ian, Hayden, Emma, Jacob, and Justin, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice, and all 3 of her siblings. She was also preceded in death by two nephews, David Brosdahl and Roger Cole; niece, Stacey Brosdahl; and several of her cousins.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oslo, MN.

VISITATION: 9:30 - 11:00 AM before the service on Thursday at the church.

INTERMENT: Bigwoods Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oslo, MN.
