Leonard "Butch" Kasprowicz

Leonard F. “Butch” Kasprowicz, 69, of Devil's Lake, formerly of Drayton, ND, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017, in Grand Forks, ND.

Butch was born on December 19, 1947 to Sylvester and Clara (Bukowski) Kasprowicz. He was raised in rural Marshall County, MN. After graduation from Strandquist High School in 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and married Barbara Lofstrom. A daughter Nancy was born to this union.

After Barbara’s death, he married Virjean Blazejewski in 1968. To that union two children, Kevin and Mona, were born.

Following his discharge from the Army, Butch worked at several jobs eventually working at American Crystal Sugar Company in Drayton, ND until his retirement in 2008.

Butch led an active life. He was an avid woodworker, fisherman, puzzle maker, gardener, and card player.

Butch’s Catholic Faith was a central part of his life. Butch truly had a heart of gold, no one he spoke to was a stranger very long.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean; his children, Nancy (John) Feldman of Pembina, ND, Kevin (Tracey) Kasprowicz of Drayton, ND and Mona (Corey) Olson of Maddock, ND; grandchildren, Holly (Matthew) Phillips, Tyler (Kayla) Hill, Morgan Hill, Spencer Olson, and Tanner Kasprowicz; great-grandson, Isaiah Phillips; and siblings, Mary Carlson, Mike Kasprowicz, Bob (Judy) Kasprowicz, and Gabe (Linda) Kasprowicz.

Butch was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara; his parents; brothers, Roger and Richard; brothers-in-law, Jerry Carlson and Mark Mattson; and sister-in-law, Rita Kasprowicz.

 

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 10:30 AM, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Drayton, ND, with one hour visitation prior to Mass.

Visitation: Monday, May 8, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, followed by a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Drayton, ND.

Interment: St. Edward’s Catholic Cemetery, Strandquist, MN

Military Honors by: Drayton American Legion and ND Honor Guard.
