Lorraine Selnes

Lorraine Selnes, 96, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on March 14, 2017 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead, MN.

Lorraine Adelaide Johnson was born on July 21, 1920 in East Grand Forks, MN, the daughter of Andrew and Millie Johnson. On April 4, 1939, she was united in marriage to Lee Selnes. They made their home in Alvarado, MN where they farmed for 43 years. They retired in 1987 and moved to Warren, MN. Lorraine and Lee spent 21 years wintering in Mesa, AZ. Lee died on November 12, 1999. Lorraine moved to East Grand Forks in 2001.

Lorraine loved being a partner with Lee on his many adventures. She enjoyed attending all sport activities, especially those involving her children and grandchildren. Lorraine loved going to their cabin on Lake of the Woods, fishing and golfing.

She was an active member of New Hope Lutheran Church where she held offices in WELCA and taught Sunday School. Lorraine also was a 4-H leader, FHA leader and a member of the Eastern Star and Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Kay (Tom) Dorrance of Mesa, AZ, Joy (Jim) Selnes of Grand Forks, ND and Wayne (Debbie) Selnes and Rex (Judy) Selnes all of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Patti (Kevin) Cantile, Lori (Scott) Francisco, Jodi (Jeff) Dodson, Kati (Kyle) Christianson, Gina (William) Selnes, Holli (Mike) Taff, Spencer (Patti) Selnes and Mike (Nikki) Selnes; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Audrey Johnson and Bernice Johnson; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Jerry and Pearl Miller and Willie and Kathy Bayne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; daughter, Marcy Miller and brothers, Laurence, Glen and Aldon.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Friday, March 17, 2017 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Alvarado, MN.

VISITATION: After 5:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service on Thursday at New Hope Lutheran Church in Alvarado, MN and one hour before services at the church on Friday.

INTERMENT: Oaklawn Cemetery, Alvarado, MN
