Welcome to the memorial page for

Lucille Pokrzywinski

August 18, 1926 ~ October 31, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Lucille Pokrzywinski, 90, of Oslo, MN, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016, at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Lucille Mary was born on August 18, 1926, in Argyle, MN, to Esdras and Florida (Hebert) St. Germain. She grew up on the family farm in rural Argyle, attending Brushwood College country school until the 8th grade. On November 14, 1944, Lucille was united in marriage to Alfred Pokrzywinski in Argyle. The couple made their home in rural Oslo, where they worked side-by-side on the farm and raised their four daughters.

Lucy was very active for many years in Oslo's St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she taught religion, was in the Altar Society, readily volunteered when needed, and embroidered baptismal garments. She was excellent at sewing, teaching all her daughters how to, as well as making many gifts for her grandchildren over the years. Lucy was a gracious hostess, baking dozens of M&M cookies for her family, or inviting friends and acquaintances over for holidays so they wouldn't have to spend them alone. She was also a terrific gardener and loved surrounding her home with flowers, especially marigolds, roses, and peonies.

Her greatest love was for her husband. Alfred. They were a beautiful example of Christian marriage and were best friends. When they moved into Villa St. Vincent together in 2011, they were, more often than not, found talking and laughing like schoolchildren by their caretakers. Alfred passed away in January of this year. In their 71 years of marriage, they never once spent an anniversary apart, even if it meant Alfred having to come home early from hunting: this year they will be together again.

Lucy is survived by her daughters, Lana (Alan) Ebertowski of Hillsboro, ND, Mary (John) Morberg of Moorhead, Margo (Vince) Rolczynski of Fargo, ND, and Pamala (Mike) Pawloski of Coon Rapids, MN; eleven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren (and one on-the-way); and siblings, Aurore Bedard of Grand Forks, ND, Aime (Elaine) St. Germain of Stephen, MN, and Theresa (Winton) Knutson of Grand Forks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred; and several siblings.

Memorials may be made to the Lion's Eye Bank or the

Alzheimer's Association (7900 W. 78th St., Suite 100, MPLS, MN 55439)
