Marcy Bubb, 85, of rural East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, with her family by her side.
Marcy Arlene Olstad was born on February 10, 1932, at home in rural Galesburg, ND, the daughter of Pauli and Alma (Erickson) Olstad. She attended country school and graduated from Page High School where she was a cheerleader. After she graduated, she attended Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Forks, ND. In 1951, she married Thomas Ritland. They made their home in Grand Forks and they had two children, Kandas and Timothy. Thomas died on June 21, 1953. After Thomas died, Marcy completed her RN training at Deaconess and worked at Deaconess Hospital. In 1957, Marcy married James Bubb. They made their home in Alvarado and they had three children, Kimberly, Mike and Andrea. In 1972, they moved with their family to a farm in rural East Grand Forks. Marcy worked at the Warren Hospital, which later changed it's name to North Valley Health Center, from 1959 – 2012. She reluctantly retired after 53 years due to declining health.
She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church where she enjoyed attending Bible Studies and the Alvarado American Legion Auxiliary.
Marcy's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting and knitting. She truly loved her work as an RN at North Valley Health Center and considered the staff at the hospital her second family. Marcy especially enjoyed volunteering at the annual NVHC Golf Fundraiser.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband, James; five children, Kandas (Steve) Diamond of Akron, CO, Timothy (Valerie) Ritland of Moorhead, MN, Kimberly (Calvin) Kuhn of Dickinson, ND, Michael (Catherine) Bubb of Alvarado, MN, and Andrea (Marshal) Albright of Fargo, ND; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Punton of Ayr, ND; brother, Donald (Janice) Olstad of Galesburg, ND, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; sisters, Connie Bring and Sylvia Kyllo; and brother, Douglas Olstad.
