Myrtle Ritko

Myrtle Ritko, 97, went home to be with her Lord on Friday morning, December 15, 2017 at the Thief River Falls Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN after a short stay.

Myrtle Helen Bagaas was born on September 27, 1920 in Wagner Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Knut and Marie (Middlebo) Bagaas. She attended District #50 County School through the 8th grade. Myrtle was Confirmed at Alma Lutheran Church. On October 7, 1978, she married Harold Ritko at Alma Lutheran Church. They made their home near Viking, MN, later moving back to her home place. Harold died on September 22, 1994. Myrtle lived for several years in Warren, MN before moving to Valley Home in Thief River Falls, MN.

She was a life long member of Alma Lutheran Church where she was active in Youth Night, Ladies Aid, and Bible Studies.

Myrtle loved to sew, quilt, crochet. She did beautiful work and always was happy to share it with others. She was also an excellent cook and she loved to bake. Everyone always loved to pick potatoes at the farm because you would always get fresh bread and cake in the morning and afternoon, and the best dinner, including pie. Myrtle loved to travel and made several trips with her family and husband. She traveled to Denmark and Norway twice, California, and many shorter trips.

She never had any children but was blessed with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; sisters, Gerda Moe and Agnes Klopp; brothers, Harold, Jens, Einar, Sanford, and infant brother, Melvin; sisters-in-law, Gladys Bagaas and Doris Bagaas; and brother-in-laws, Peder Moe and Ernest Klopp.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, December 23, 2017, at 10:30 AM, in Alma Free Lutheran Church, Argyle, MN.
VISITATION: One hour prior.
INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren.
