Paul B. St. Germain

July 14, 1943 ~ September 30, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Paul B. St. Germain, 74, a lifelong resident of Argyle, MN, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer.

Paul Bernard was born on July 14, 1943 in Crookston, MN to John and Florence (Bedard) St. Germain. He was raised on the family farm north of Argyle and was a lifelong member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, receiving all of his sacraments there. He attended Argyle High School until transferring to the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, where he graduated in 1961. That same year, Paul entered the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1967. Paul was united in marriage to Janet Haugen on June 26, 1965. Together they farmed near Argyle and raised six children. His grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought him pride and joy.

Paul was incredibly active in his community, proudly serving as the Commander, Sergeant at Arms, and various other positions with the Argyle American Legion Post #353, he was a past-chairman of the St. Rose Catholic School, Argyle High School, and Stephen-Argyle Central school boards, a Tamarac Township Chairman, a Boy Scout Master in the 1970's, a volunteer basketball coach, and was active in the local gun club, Argyle sports boosters, 4-H, and the Knights of Columbus. For many years, he faithfully served his church on the Finance Council and as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister.

He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; whether it was up at Pine Ridge Camp, ice fishing, hunting, smoking turkeys, playing pinochle, or just chatting. Paul was always willing to go out of his way for another. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and quick witted comebacks, his pocket full of pink mints, and his warm and welcoming spirit. May his memory be blessed.

Paul is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet; children, Janelle (Jay) Swanson of Argyle, Jeffery (Sarah) St. Germain of Cottage Grove, MN, Darin (Alison) St. Germain of Gilbert, IA, Jon (Kelly) St. Germain of Elk River, MN, Kristi (Mark) Pederson of Warren, and Wade (Kimberly) St. Germain of Argyle; 22 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Allen (JoAnn) St. Germain, Annette (John) Koch, Norman (Dolores) St. Germain, Diane (Louie) Grochowski, and  David (Denise) St. Germain.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger; nephew, Bradley St. Germain; and niece, Lynelle St. Germain.
