Rick Vanek

Rick Vanek, Oklahoma City resident, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the age of 66.

He was born on February 22, 1949 in Warren, MN, to Richard and Marjorie (Stroble) Vanek. He grew up in Warren, having graduated from high school there in 1967. He enlisted in the US Army and served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a combat medic.

He was employed by the US Postal Service in Fargo, ND, Colorado Springs, CO, and Oklahoma City.

Rick is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Maridale; sister, Julie, sister-in-law, Ruth Vanek; nephews, Brian, John, and James Vanek; nieces, Donna Emert, Angela Cochran, and Aimeeann Vanek; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald, and life partner, Stacy Greany-Ferguson.

Rick was a dedicated supporter of many children and animal charities.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2015, in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Warren.
