Ricky Hendrickson

Ricky Hendrickson, 68, Oslo, MN, went home to be with his Father in heaven, while surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer, on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Ricky Allan was born on May 3, 1947, to Albert “Pat” and Margaret (Brodahl) Hendrickson, in Warren, MN. He grew up in Oslo with his brother, Darryle, and sister, Marilee. He graduated from Oslo High School and enlisted in the US Navy shortly after, serving for four years.

After his honorable discharge, Ricky was married to Julie Behnkie and had three children. Ricky worked for the Grand Forks Air Force Base in the commissary and retired from there after more than thirty years. After retiring, he went back to work for a few short years at UND, doing many different jobs which he loved dearly. He was a past Commander of the Oslo American Legion and was honored to be a chaplain at the East Grand Forks American Legion.

Ricky's greatest joy in life, and his favorite hobby, was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Ricky's all-time favorite time of year was the 4th of July. Each year Ricky would gather with his family to enjoy the holiday while being (dangerously) in charge of the fireworks show.

Ricky is survived by his loving children, Pat Hendrickson, Kerrie (Stan) Peltier all of Oslo, and Jeff (CarySue) Hendrickson of Thompson, ND; brother Darryle (Colleen) Hendrickson; brother-in-law, Larry Onger; two step-children, Shannon (Jason) Shomo and Shane (Taylor) Lofberg; thirteen grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marilee Onger.

Visitation: Sunday, August 30, 2015, from from 5-7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Zion Lutheran Church, Oslo, MN.
Memorial Service: Monday, August 31, 2015, at 2:00 PM, in Zion Lutheran Church, Oslo, MN.
