Thomas J. Anderson

Thomas J. Anderson, 61, of Warren, MN, passed away in his home, on October 16, 2017, under care of hospice, surrounded by his family, after a long, tough battle with cancer.

Thomas was born in Minot, ND, to John and Mary Anderson. He was raised in Minot, graduating from high school there and attending Minot State, where he would receive a degree in Business. 

His job, though important, took a backseat to his love of learning. Any chance he got, Tom would take classes, whether over the summer or at night. In 1999, at the age of 43, Tom finally went back to school full-time, moving the family to Minot to earn his degree in Education and follow in his father's footsteps. He began teaching in Twin Valley, MN, and received his Masters in Science Education through Montana State. His last teaching job was in Warren, where he retired. He had a great fondness for geology and space, which he attributed to watching the moon landing when he was thirteen.

In addition to being an academic, Tom also liked to work with his hands. Whether it was working on remodeling projects in any of the homes he owned, woodworking, painting landscapes, or making soap (which he never did get around to selling), he enjoyed being able to create things of value. He loved spending time with his family, especially at their lake cabin, and more recently, getting a chance to play with his two young grandsons.

He is survived by his wife  Jayne; and children, Jon, Kim, and Stacy.
