June (Poitras) Carlson

June Carlson, 84, of Warren, MN formerly of Stephen, MN, died on Easter Morning, Sunday March 31, 2024, in North Star Manor of Warren.

June An Poitras was born on June 5, 1939, in Argyle, the daughter of Archie and Josephine (Vaillant) Poitras. She was raised in Argyle, graduating from the public high school. She was married to Larry Carlson soon after with the young couple making their home on the farm in rural Stephen. They attended Salem Lutheran Church and June was actively involved, serving on the church board and teaching catechism classes. June was kind-hearted and could never discipline her classes like she could her own children. While she on the farm with the family she also worked at Adelle's Cafe. She worked as a dietitian at the Good Samaritan Home in Warren for 15 years, even going back to school to complete coursework.

June and Larry moved into town in 1970 and later moved to Warren in 2015 as his health began to decline. Larry died on March 29, 2016. June remained in Warren, serving on the church board of First Lutheran Church and continued to enjoy her lifelong pastimes of visiting friends, writing letters, cooking, playing cards, and doing word puzzles.

When she moved into North Star Manor nursing home, in the same building where she worked all those years, June enjoyed keeping tabs on the staff and helping them maintain their high level of care. She enjoyed the many friends she made there and missed her friends gone before her.

June is survived by her children, Lynn Carlson, MaryLee (Mark) Carlson, Lance Carlson, and Lon (Becky) Carlson; grandsons, Matthew, Kyle, Aaron (Maddison), Andrew, Luke, and Blake Carlson; and siblings-in-law, Allard (Debbie) Carlson, Angel Carlson, Betty Carlson, Janice Landreville, Carole (Jeff) Winters, and Donna Wilson.

In addition to her husband, Larry, who died eight years and two days before her, June was preceded in death by her sisters, Adele Dumas and Delores Milender; parents-in-law, Albert and Agda Carlson; and siblings-in-law, Dennis, LeRoy, Ed, and Alden Carlson, Corrine (Jim) Krogh, Marion (Donald) Bates, Willard Landreville, and Dick Wilson.

June wrote this about herself: “She was a quiet person who was peaceful and wanted harmony for her family.” She was also fiery and funny when you got to know her.
She will be missed.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 10:30 AM, in First Lutheran Church of Warren, MN.
VISITATION: One hour prior.
INTERMENT: (to follow lunch) in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Stephen, MN.
