Allen Wayne Erickson

Allen Erickson, 59, of Argyle, died unexpectedly on June 5, 2019.

Allen Wayne was born on May 31, 1960, in Warren, MN, to Myron and Doris (Wimpfheimer) Erickson. He grew up on the family dairy farm along the Great Eastern and spent his childhood learning the value of hard work. He attended Warren High School and worked for the Kruger family farm following graduation in 1979.

On July 23, 1983, Allen was united in marriage to Dawn Sundby. The young couple made their home in Argyle, where Allen was an “outsider” for only a short while; joining the Argyle Fire Department, the Argyle Sportsmens Club, and the Argyle Lions in short order. In 1988, Allen then started working for Cenex in Argyle as the fuel truck driver. He enjoyed his work and was grateful for his “commute;” which consisted of a one-block walk, bike ride, or moped scoot down the road. In addition to his daily work, Allen became well known for his quality lawn mowing; teaching and passing this onto his family.

He and Dawn raised three children and Allen loved passing on his knowledge and work ethic to them. More than that, he enjoyed spoiling them after the work was done. He spent a lot of time with them at motor-cross and sno-cross races; his favorite part of racing was the time spent together as a family. Allen truly enjoyed buying the latest toys for the family, often having to convince his wife with a casual, “but Dawn...” It always ended up working out, though, and the whole family has been able to enjoy their place up on Lake of the Woods, just as he had dreamed. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing, whether it was at the Erickson Hunting Cabin or at their year-round lake place, Allen could be found with his best buddy, Murphy, by his side.

In addition to his wife of 35 years, Dawn; children, Heidi (John) Wesolowski of rural Warren, and Dillon (fiancee, Andee Olson) Erickson of Argyle; mother, Doris Erickson; father-in-law Arden (Jo) Sundby; siblings, Karen (Roger) Benitt, Carol (Tom) Tulibaski, Dennis (Kyle) Erickson, and Terry (Sheila) Erickson; Lynn (Pam) Sundby; Becky (Alvin) Nybladh; Craig (Tammy) Sundby; Terry (Patty) Sundby; many nieces and nephews; and his dog and best buddy, Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie, who passed away on August 25, 2013; father Myron Erickson; and mother-in-law, Shirley Sundby.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Monday, June 10, 2019, at 10:30 AM, in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
VISITATION: Sunday evening, June 9, starting at 5:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM, in St. Rose Catholic Church, Argyle; and one hour prior to Mass.
INTERMENT: Next to his daughter in St. Rose Cemetery, Argyle.
