Benita Lorenson, 63, of Warren, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018, in Altru Hospital Grand Forks, ND.
Benita Faye was born on October 10, 1954, in Mayville, ND, to Floyd and Helen (Zarn) Koehmstedt. She was raised in the Mayville/Portland area and graduated from May-Port High School. She was married to Jerome Abel in 1976 and the two had four children.
After her children had left the home, Benita moved to the Warren area where she worked as a CNA. In addition to being a caretaker at the Marshall County Group Home for 15 years, she also worked at the local nursing home. The residents at the group home became like family to her in a special way.
It was in her ministry as a caregiver that she met her future husband, Brad Lorenson, and they were married on August 24, 2004. In the following years, they continued to work alongside one another and enjoy their life together. Benita was diagnosed with a liver disorder in 2017 and became the recipient of the same level of care she had always given others. Her big and generous heart stopped beating too soon and she will be greatly missed.
Benita will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Brad; daughter, Jessica; sons, Joshua, Jordan, and Jacob; grandchildren, Jaime, Angelica, and Daniel; siblings, Connie Koehmstedt, Sheila Remboldt, Candyce Evanson, and Rick Koehmstedt; mother-in-law, Lorraine Lorenson; and brothers-in-law, Jeff, Scott (Rebecca), and Mark (Katie) Lorenson; several nieces and nephews; her cats, Taz and Sammy; and her many friends and coworkers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and former husband, Jerome.
