Caroline Rominski

Caroline Rominski, 87, of Florian, MN, died early Thursday morning, August 24, 2017, at Karlstad Healthcare Center.

Caroline Rita Tabaka was born on September 13, 1929, to Peter and Mary (Kuduk) Tabaka, in Minneapolis, MN. She was raised in the city with her ten siblings, attended Holy Cross School and worked for several years as a dietary cook after she finished school.

During a visit to northwest Minnesota, Caroline met John Rominski. The two were soon married on May 28, 1960, in the Basilica of St. Mary, Minneapolis. The young couple made their home in Florian. The two were blessed with six children and Caroline stayed at home to raise her boys, and later babysat for a few neighbors. John died on February 19, 1999, and Caroline lived in Thief River Falls until 2015, when she moved to Karlstad Healthcare Center.

Caroline enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and especially liked making booties for newborns. She liked playing BINGO and watching Minnesota Vikings football and Minnesota Twins baseball. She will be remembered by her sons for her loving care of them, and cheering them on as she watched them play football all year round.

She is survived by her sons, Jack (Lori) Rominski, Jerry (Peggy) Rominski, Jamie (special friend Laura Docken) Rominski, Joe (Tammy) Rominski, and Jason (Amy) Rominski; twelve grandchildren, Amy (Brent) Havelka, Andrew (Dia) Rominski, Alison (Josh) Kaiser, Chris and Miranda Rominski, Travis Blair, Selena Garza, Tamara and Tiffany Rominski; and Garrett, Grant, and Greta Rominski; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Sophia Perlick and Catherine Mack; and sister-in-law, Gertrude Tabaka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; infant daughter, Joanne Marie; and siblings, Frances, John, Stan, Walter, Sister Inez (OSF), Rose, Agnes, and Peter.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, August 31, 2017, at 10:30 AM, in Assumption Catholic Church, Florian, MN.

Visitation: Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 5:00pm – 7:00 PM, with Rosary at 6:45 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, in Assumption Church, Florian; and one hour prior to Mass on Thursday.

Interment: Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Florian, MN.
