Crispine Nowacki, 93, of Warren, MN, formerly of rural Argyle, MN, passed away Sunday evening, March 26, 2017 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with her sons by her side.
Crispine Clara was born on December 5, 1923, to Michael and Minnie (Gornowicz) Grembowski. She was born and raised on a farm near Warsaw, ND, where she attended country school and, later, boarded at the convent in Warsaw.
As a girl who loved music and dancing, it was natural that she met her future husband at a Polish community dance. On October 16, 1945, Crispine was united in marriage to Frank Nowacki Jr. in St. Stanislaus Church, Warsaw. The young couple made their home on Frank's family's farm in rural Argyle, where they raised their five sons. She worked side-by-side with her husband for many years: working the land, trying to reign-in their boys, and maintaining and participating in her church, St. John the Baptist, which was built on the family's land.
After Frank passed away in 1990, Crispine moved into Warren, where she continued to keep house, garden (especially rhubarb), volunteer at her church, play solitaire or four corners, occassionaly go fishing, and invest herself in the lives of her family. She always set aside time to enjoy polka and old-time music on Sundays, listen to the news on the radio, and watch Wheel of Fortune or the Minnesota Twins. Crispine will be remembered for her great love for her grandchildren, who were the “light of her life,” her service to her church, her love of the Holy Rosary, and that she made the best caramel rolls.
Crispine is survived by her children, Loren (Sheryl) Nowacki of Grand Forks, Terry (Debbie) Nowacki of Argyle, and Allen Nowacki of St. Paul, MN; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Nowacki of Kent, WA; grandchildren, Stacy Judd, Tony Nowacki, Tiffany Kathman, and Michael, Adair, Sarah, Jared, and Kendra Nowacki; eight great-grandchildren, Madison, Melissa, Ashley, Alex, Cooper, Jackson, Hailey, and Bryce; and siblings, Michael (Cecelia) Grembowski, and Loretta Duray.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 44 years, Frank; sons, Gerald and Rodney Nowacki; and siblings, Emil, Julian, Minnie, and Saraphine Grembowski, and Lucy Wesolowski.
