Darlene Nelson, 86, of Warren, MN died and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 26, 2019, in Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks, ND.
Darlene Mae Olson was born on January 6, 1933, in Drayton, ND, to Conrad and Ethel (Stewart) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and graduated from Drayton High School in 1950. On May 25, 1955, Darlene was united in holy matrimony to LaVerne J. Nelson. They were longtime residents of Warren, where they raised their children in the Catholic faith.
Darlene worked at the grocery store in Drayton before she was married. After her children were in school, worked as a full time para professional in Warren Elementary. Darlene loved to work at school athletic events taking admission tickets. Her interests included attending her grandchildren's' sporting and music events, reading, baking, and doing yard work. She enjoyed lake life, the beauty of flowers, country music, and collecting Precious Moments figurines. Darlene also appreciated everything about the Christmas season.
She was a longtime member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Her journey through life was greatly blessed by her loving husband, five children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Darlene is survived by children, Veronica (Tim) Erickson of Thief River Falls, MN, David Nelson of Moorhead, MN, Arlette (Jeff) Weber of Kingman AZ, Glenn Nelson of Warren, and Terry (Gwen) Nelson of Pewaukee, WI; seven grandchildren, Adrianne (Matt) Bohl of Owatonna, MN, Ian Erickson of Fort Collins, CO, Drew (Brittany) Erickson of Thief River Falls, Joshua Nelson, of Moorhead, Ashley (Jake) Hirchert of Sabin, MN, and Skylar Weber of Flagstaff, AZ, and Austin Weber of Prescott, AZ; and four great-grandsons, Callen and Caden Bohl, and Gage and Westen Hirchert.
In addition to her husband, of nearly 34 years, LaVerne; Darlene was preceded in death by all of her siblings: sister, Mable Rassmussen; brothers, Willard, Kenneth, Irvin, and Vernon Olson; and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Nelson.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 2:00 PM, in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Warren, MN.
VISITATION: One hour prior to Mass.
INTERMENT: Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Warren.
