David Robertson, 88, of Argyle, MN, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton, ND.
David William Robertson was born on August 18, 1928 in Warren, MN, the son of Alexander and Wilhemina (Faulstich) Robertson. He attended Middle River Township School for eight years and one year of High School in Argyle. David entered the Army in 1951. He served on a Distant Early Warning System near the Arctic Circle (Drew Line). It was set up to detect incoming Soviet bombers during the Cold War. He was also stationed on the Eniwetok Atoll, part of the Marshall Islands in the Pacific, when the Army conducted tests of the atomic bomb during Operation Ivy Eniwetok Proving Ground. He returned to Argyle in 1953 to work on the family farm.
David enjoyed growing crops, raising beef cattle, doing research, and reading. He had a special love of old implements.
David, Jack, Donald, and Anita operated the Family Farm in Argyle, which was part of the original farm that John Robertson (grandfather) farmed when he arrived from Scotland. Wheat, soybeans, and sunflowers were produced on the farm. They also had a large herd of Black Angus cattle. David and family were proud to carry on the traditions of their heritage.
Left to mourn his passing are cousins, friends and the Community of Argyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Wilhemina; an infant brother; his brothers, Donald and Jack, and his sister, Anita.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM on Friday, July 14, 2017 at DuBore Funeral Home in Warren, MN.
VISITATION: One hour before the service.
INTERMENT: Woodlawn Cemetery, Argyle, MN
