Dorothy Szklarski, 87, of Stephen, MN, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Dorothy Josephine Kostrzewski was born on December 13, 1932 in Wanger Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Steve and Helen (Tulibaski) Kostrzewski. She was raised and attended school in Wanger Township. On May 26, 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to Frank Szklarski. They made their home in Augsburg Township, Marshall County, MN where they farmed and raised a beautiful family together. Frank died in 1989.
She was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church.
Dorothy had many hobbies and interests which included gardening, baking everyday (a prolific bread and bun maker), crocheting, making the best czernina (duck soup), keeping a perfect house, reading cookbooks and watching cooking shows. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to mourn her passing are four sons, Phillip Szklarski of Stephen, MN, Mark (Louise) Szklarski of Florian, MN, Michael (Judy) Szklarski of Argyle, MN and Terry (Carla) Szklarski of Strandquist, MN: nine grandchildren, Mark A. (Christina) Szklarski, Victoria (Mike) Schnider, Emily Szklarski (Alex), Tiffany (Jacob) Schantz, Brandon (McKenzie) Szklarski, Marc Szklarski, Nathan Szklarski and Chelsey (Josh) Huttleston; eight great-grandchildren and two on the way; siblings, Adolph Kostrzewski, Albert (Diane) Kostrzewski, Alice Peters, Everlyn (Irvin) Mager, Lucy (Jerry) Klegstad, Christine (Danny) Kramer, Margaret Kasprowicz and Clarence (Ione) Kostrzewski and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; grandson, Brett Szklarski and brothers, Roman, Alex and Harry.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 10:30 AM on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, MN.
VISITATION: After 5:00 PM with a 6:15 PM Rosary and 6:30 PM Prayer Service on Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian and one hour before services on Friday at the church.
INTERMENT: Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Florian, MN
