Edmund Pietruszewski

Edmund Thomas Pietruszewski was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 22, 2017. He was 90 years old.

Edmund was born on July 16, 1926 in Tamarack Township of Marshall County, MN, to Antoinette (Kasprowicz) and Thomas Pietruszewski. He attended country school and the Ag School in Crookston, then stayed home to work on the family farm.

Edmund married Helen Ignaszewski on October 25, 1949 in Stephen, MN. They spent their first winter in Homestead, FL, where Edmund worked for area farmers. After returning home in the spring, Edmund worked on the family farm, and then for Marshall County as a road grader operator. He then began his 60-year career at Hvidsten Farms.

Edmund and Helen were blessed with five children, and taught them the importance of family, and the values of hard work, integrity, honesty, and kindness. Edmund served his church for many years in various ways, his community on the volunteer fire department, and his beloved family, tirelessly. Edmund was a true gentleman and was loved and respected by all, which is attested by his large circle of friends.

Edmund is survived by his children, Diane (Ricky) Sundby, of Bismarck, ND, Daniel (Lenore) of Stephen, Gail (Scott) Brustad of Lincoln, ND, Carol (Bill) Kuznia of East Grand Forks, MN; daughter-in-law, Connie (Carl) Troska of Stephen; 13 grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Vaudrin, Kristi (Jeff) Lafrenz, Ross (Naomi) Pietruszewski, Alicia (Brett) Spilde, Kyle (Paige) Pietruszewski, Nan (Derik) Nelson, Britni (Adam) Gajeski, Jeremy (Samantha) McGrath, Jessica (Jonel) Linder, Jonny (Amanda) McGrath, Lizzie (Eliud) Feliciano, Alex (Brooke) Kuznia, and Jordan Kuznia; and 12 great-grandchildren, Hunter Lafrenz, Baylee Vaudrin, James and Zoey McGrath, Zach and Malia Johansen, Camden McGrath, Baron Spilde, Lily and Landon Pietruszewski, and Harper and Weston Nelson. He is also survived by his siblings, Roger (Bernadette) Pietruszewski and Gloria (Leo) Bedard; sisters-in-law, Rosella Pietruszewski, Loretta (Al) Goblirsch, and Angie Adamski; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents and parents-in-law; his son, Gary; his sister, Dolores Stusynski; brother, Eugene Pietruszewski; brothers-in-law, Edward, John, Tony, and Norbert Ignaszewski and Steve Adamski; and sisters-in-law, Lila and Karen Ignaszewski.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 10:30 AM, in St. Stephen Catholic Church, Stephen, MN.
Visitation: From 5-7 PM, with a Rosary at 6:30, and 6:45 Prayer Service on Monday, in St. Stephen Catholic Church, Stephen; and one hour prior to Mass.
Interment: St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery.
