Elaine Myrfield

Elaine Myrfield, 92, of Warren, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Elaine Sylvia Aase was born on June 11, 1925, in Hoople, ND, to Edwin and Sophie (Holt) Aase. She was raised on the family farm outside of Pisek, ND, and attended country school. In her teens, she and her family moved to rural Argyle. It was there that she met her future husband, LaVerne Myrfield, at a barn dance. The two were united in marriage on December 7, 1947, in the parsonage of Our Savior's in Warren.

The two would make their home on a farm six miles northeast of Warren. After welcoming their first two children, Kathy and Rod, they opened their home to a foster son, Kenny. Shortly after, they were blessed with their youngest son, Jim. Elaine was a true farm wife, and took care of both the home and the fields. LaVerne passed away on February 7, 1981. When her daughter, Kathy Kurz, passed away on December 31, 1981, Elaine received custody of two young grandchildren. She raised them like her own children. All the activity “kept her young” while adding a few gray hairs. She had a gift for always putting others before herself, not only in her own family, but in service to her church (McCrea Lutheran in her younger years), the Legion Auxiliary, the local food pantry.

Elaine loved to do all sorts of crafts, quilt, and play cards with her friends and family. She enjoyed camping and fishing, even going as recently as August 2017. She will be remembered for her unending generosity and her devotion to her family. She loved the Lord and was welcomed into His kingdom with open arms.

Elaine is survived by her sons, Rodney (Darla) and Jim (Patti) Myrfield both of Warren; her younger “children,” Marc (Beth) Kurz of Thompson, ND, and Tricia (Todd) Crawford of Atlanta, GA; foster-son, Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Jorgenson; grandchildren, Brandon, Jessica (fiance, Darren), and Matthew (Shadae) Myrfield; Kelly, Kacey (Brian) Green, and Cory Myrfield, and Heather (Todd) Hohenstein, Annie (Gus) Gustafson, and Alicia (Matt) Ramsey; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ellen Aase of Grand Forks.

In addition to her husband and daughter, Elaine was preceded in death by her siblings, Selvin, Wallace, Melvin, and infant sister Ethel.

Funeral Service: Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 10:30 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Warren, MN.

Visitation: Wednesday, October 4, from 5:00 PM, with a 6:30 Prayer Service, in DuBore Funeral Home, Warren; and one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment: McCrea Lutheran Cemetery, rural Warren, MN.
