Welcome to the memorial page for

Jody Holter Clark

August 18, 1959 ~ January 22, 2018 (age 58) 58 Years Old

Jody (Holter) Clark, 58, of Alvarado, MN, left this world on Sunday night, January 21, 2018, when her failing body could no longer contain her free spirit.

Jody was born in Warren, MN, on August 18, 1959, to Gordon and Lynette (Olson) Holter. She was raised on the family farm outside of Oslo, MN, and from an early age nurtured a fierce independent streak which would carry her through her life. “Lupe,” as she was nicknamed, was party to all sorts of mischief with her best friend, Beatrice Nelson, with her crowning achievement being letting Pepper the pony into the house (on the new carpet, no less)! She was a cheerleader for Oslo High School and graduated in 1977.

After graduation, she moved to Longview, Texas for a few years, before returning home, only to leave again for The Cities. It was there that she met Ron Webb, whom she would marry in Oak Park Church and with whom she would have one son, the love of her life, Nathan Zalek. Jody lived her life joyfully and had a wanderlust which, wherever it took her, always seemed to lead her back home. After moving to Florida and appreciating every bit of sun she could take in, she moved back to the family homestead with her son, allowing him to have a childhood like she did, with her mother at the helm. She would nurture her own love of independence in him, allowing Nathan to become a very self-sufficient young man.

Jody's greatest gift, as well as greatest struggle within herself, was her selflessness. She was selfless to a fault, giving all of herself to her family, her friends, several husbands, and anyone else who needed help. Her relationships over the years became life-lessons to her son, and she always appreciated being able to give him those tools, despite her own failures in marriage. She lived hand-to-mouth but would give away whatever she had. This great spirit of giving she possessed didn't end at people, and she always had an endless parade of animals she was looking after. From dogs and cats to ferrets, free-ranging finches to fish tanks, Jody always seemed to be able to give a little more of herself to God's small creatures.

She was also a fantastic gardener; not merely a soil-turner and waterer, but a whisperer. Jody had this amazing ability to coax a dying plant back to life (sometimes verbally) and spent many hours allowing her toil to transform into joy. She enjoyed working alongside her sister and seeing the fruits of her labor become canned goods of every kind. Her family was incredibly important to her, and she loved to pass her days with them out on the Red River, catfishing, swimming, or landing two huge walleye back-to-back. The last six years of Jody's life were marked by her usual selflessness as she became a caregiver for her mother, and moved to Alvarado.

Jody will be remembered as the life of many a party, a gifted conversationalist, a Sweet Adeline singer, the lefse roller, a dutiful daughter, and a mother that gave her all to her son:
The Lord will provide for her.

She is survived by her son Nathan (Gina Ball) Webb, and two grandsons, Ivan Louis and Leo Michael; mother, Lynette; siblings, Robbin Holter, Lori (Keith) Chisholm, Larry (Wendy) Holter, and David (Theresa) Holter; and many nieces and nephews.

Jody was preceded in death by her father, Gordon; and grandparents, Edwin and Vivian Olson, and Elling and Thilda Holter.
