Paul Westman

Paul Westman, 82, of Warren, MN, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at North Valley Health Center in Warren.

Paul Dean Westman was born on March 19, 1935 in Warren, the son of Eugene and Petra Westman. He was raised in Warren with his two siblings, Ronald and Elizabeth, and he graduated from Warren High School in 1953. Paul served in the US Army from 1953 – 1956 where he learned data processing. He worked in data processing for the city of Tacoma, WA for four years. From 1960 – 1968, he again served with the US Army and was stationed in Germany, Okinawa and Vietnam.

After his discharge in 1968, he worked for a bank in Tacoma for several years before going to work at the Patent Office in the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. In 1982, he obtained an Associate Degree in security administration and he worked for Wells Fargo and later as a federal police officer for the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. In 1998, he worked as a police and fire dispatcher for the 300 acre Bethesda health center. He retired in 2001 and moved back to Warren. He became a member of First Lutheran the church in which he grew up, and served on the parish council, ushered, and served communion. During retirement, he enjoyed the company of his cat, Pushkin.

He was an active member of the Warren American Legion Post #27, where he was on the rifle team. Paul also volunteered as a driver for Marshall County Social Service for several years.

Paul enjoyed taking walks and he was also an avid coin collector.

Left to mourn his passing are family members and friends; and he was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are Preferred to the Warren American Legion

 

Funeral Service: Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 10:30 AM, in First Lutheran Church, Warren, MN.

Visitation: One hour prior.

Military Honors: Warren American Legion, Post #27, and the Minnesota Honor Guard.

Interment of Cremated Remains: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren.
