Raymond “Ray” Swanson, 89, of Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday morning, June 10, 2018 at North Star Manor in Warren.
Raymond Alfred Swanson was born on October 16, 1928 in Oslo, MN, the son of Markus and Hilda (Morberg) Swanson. He was raised in the Oslo area where he graduated from Oslo High School. He served in the US Army from 1950 – 1952. On October 7, 1950, he was united in marriage to Alice Chruszch at Bigwoods Lutheran Church in rural Oslo. They made their home in Warren where Raymond was a long time salesman at Nelson Motors Company.
He was an active member of the Warren community where he was on the Warren City Council and a member of the Warren American Legion Post #27 where he was Past Commander. Ray was also a charter member of the Warren Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Ray loved spending time at Lake of the Woods fishing with family (especially the grandchildren) and friends. In 1962, Ray started a deer camp north of Grygla that he enjoyed going to for many years.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of almost 68 years, Alice; three sons, Lonnie (Laurie) Swanson of Roseau, MN, Les Swanson of Williams, MN and Mark (Judy) Swanson of Leawood, KS; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Markus and Hilda; brother, William and sister, Ruby McFarland.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.
VISITATION: One hour before services.
INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN
MILITARY SERVICE BY: Warren American Legion Post #27 and the Minnesota National Honor Guard
