Shirley Roley

Shirley Roley, 91, of Warren, MN, passed away on Monday morning, July 29, 2019 at North Star Manor in Warren.

Shirley was born on March 14, 1928 to Carl E. and Ceciel (Yuergens) Anderson. She was life long resident of Warren, raised on the family farm.

Shirley was married to Vernon Roley on June 1, 1946. Together they raised four children, Claudia, Becky, Rick and Kim. She had tremendous faith, a hardworking spirit and an open heart for hospitality. She loved God, her family and friends and showed that in so many ways, whether it was crocheting blankets for children and grandchildren, baking a batch of grandchildren's favorite cookies or helping someone in need. She always said that her family was her greatest source of pride and joy. She loved challenging her grand kids to a good card game and made sure that they would carry on family traditions of making flatbread and special cookies at Christmas time. Whenever someone in the family needed help, she was there on a moments notice. Vernon died on December 20, 2013.

Music was a big part of Shirley's life. She had a beautiful voice and sang at numerous weddings and funerals and participated in community concerts. As a resident at North Star Manor, her favorite day was when she would join in the weekly singing of hymns. When her memory began to fail her, the one thing she could always remember were the words to her favorite songs. She is now singing with the angel choir in heaven, we're sure!

Shirley's family is grateful to the staff at North Star Manor and Altru Hospice for the loving and compassionate care that they gave Shirley.

She is survived by her children, Claudia (Mark) Thompson of Bismarck, ND, Becky (Tom) Bro of Stewartville, MN, Rick Roley of Warren, MN and Kim (Justin) Myhre of Bloomington, MN; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, Carl (LaVerne) Anderson of Stanchfield, MN and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; three sisters; one brother; daughter-in-law, Muriel (Maruska) Roley and great-grandsons, Zachary Burris and Evan Roley.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM on Friday, August 2, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services at the church.

INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN
