Adeline (Bukowski) Borowicz

Adeline Borowicz, 89, of Florian, MN, died on Monday morning, October 11, 2021, in Oakland Park Community, Thief River Falls, MN.

Adeline Theresa was born on April, 4, 1932, on the family farm near St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alma Township, MN. Her parents, John and Helen (Pawlowski) Bukowski, raised her and her two siblings to work hard and love God. She attended country school, with her father driving the horse-drawn school bus to pick up the neighboring kids. As a young woman, Adeline attended a dance in Florian, meeting her future husband there like many of the other girls her age. On June 2, 1952, Adeline was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Borowicz, in St. John the Baptist Church. They made their home on a farm in Wright Township, later moving to his parents' Tamarac River Farm, and were members of Assumption Catholic Church in Florian.

She and Robert raised their five children while Adeline worked alongside her husband digging potatoes, working at the beet piler, and keeping the farm running. In fact, she was running the combine the day her daughter, Mary Jo, was born. She would later work various other jobs, including one at the Warren nursing home, once the kids were older. Adeline was a wonderful mother, both nurturing the family and playing with them, too. She taught her children how to play ball and deal cards, and kept them entertained with music she taught herself (on both on the guitar and accordion).

In her free time, Adeline enjoying embroidering; the many dishtowels she gave away being a faction of her work. She was a great card player, and her family has fond memories of Pinochle and Kings in the Corner. She could play Whist in a pinch, or most any other card game.

Adeline is survived by her children, Carol (Arlen) Gustafson of Thief River Falls, Mary Jo (Craig) Larson of Dilworth, MN, Leonard (Kathy) Borowicz of Stephen, MN, and Larry (Patty) Borowicz of Stillwater, MN; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her husband's siblings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, who died on October 12, 1996; her son, William “Billy,' who died on December 24, 2019; and her siblings, George (Eileen) and Louie (Hazel) Bukowski.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM, in Assumption Catholic Church, Florian, MN. The Rosary will be said at 1:30 PM.
VISITATION: One hour prior to Mass.
INTERMENT: Assumption catholic Cemetery, Florian.
