Alex “Bob” Kasprowicz, 83, of Argyle, MN, died in his home under the care of hospice, with his family at his side, on beautiful Sunday morning, September 4, 2022.
Alexander William Kasprowicz was born on June 11, 1939, in Wright Township, Marshall County, MN, to James and Helen (Filipiack) Kasprowicz. In his early childhood, Bob attended District 106 county school. Due to some family issues, Bob lived with a number of different farming families as he grew up. Each treated him as a son: this was a lesson he carried with him the rest of his life.
On New Year's Eve 1959, he was caught unaware by a bold young woman and kissed at the stroke of midnight. One year later, Bob was united to his love, Marjorie Durand, on January 9, 1960. They two made their home in Argyle, where over the years they raised six children and built a substantial farm. Bob always loved animals (he said he ought to have been a veterinarian) and kept horses, pigs, guinea hens among other creatures. They seemed to gravitate to him and they'd line up and follow him at the sound of his call. Despite the smell that'd waft dawn main street on a windy day, or the hens running wild in the church's front lawn, many enjoyed seeing his little slice of heaven on the edge of town. He also enjoyed deer hunting every year; though driving out to spot the bucks with his boys was more important than the finding of them. He was a volunteer fireman for 32 years, and volunteered with love at the group home for many years.
Despite his lack of formal education, Bob enjoyed reading and was exceedingly clever. He could fix almost anything and worked on many, many building projects. The hallmark of his work, apart from his attention to detail, was the attention he paid to his clients. He truly enjoyed sharing what he knew and helping others; even little kids didn't “get in the way” of his work, so much as they became pupils and Bob the teacher. His remarkable patience was borne out of his history as an alcoholic. On March 7, 1984, Bob committed to a life of sobriety. He worked hard to make up for lost time with his children, and was careful to take in those little moments rather than let them pass by.
He was a faithful Catholic, he knew God's grace at work in his life, and will be greatly missed by many.
Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie; sons, Bobby Kasprowicz of Huntington Beach, CA, Todd (Holly) Kasprowicz of Glendale, AZ, Troy (Patty) Kasprowicz of Halma, MN; daughter, Heidi (Paul) Carlson of Argyle; son-in-law, John Keller of Fosston, MN; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Alvina (Delbert) Vonasek, Evy (Jim) Aylesworth, and Doris Rost.
Two of Bob's children have been awaiting his coming into eternal life, Candy Keller (Nov. 30, 2018) and Chris Kasprowicz (Mar. 25, 2020). He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Adolph “Ed” and Alphonse Kasprowicz; and his parents.
