Anita “Nan” Anderson, 92 of Argyle, MN passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, October 1, 2024 at Wealshire of Bloomington in Bloomington, MN.
Anita Marion Anderson was born on April 5, 1932 in Bigwoods Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of George and Marin (Anderson) Stewart. She attended school in Argyle graduating with the class of 1949.
The beginning of her lifetime career of teaching elementary school children which she loved, started with teachers training in Warren, MN 1949-50. She taught 2 years in rural school, then received her Lifetime Teaching Certificate from Moorhead State Teachers College June 5, 1953. She taught in Hallock, MN and five years in Warren, MN and then in Argyle starting in 1967.
She married the love of her life, Charles Lodoen Anderson on July 10, 1954 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Argyle, MN. They made their home in Argyle, MN and to this union two children were born, Bobbi and Becki. During summer breaks from teaching, she went back for additional schooling and received her Bachelor of Science from Bemidji State College on August 16, 1974. She retired from Argyle Public Schools on May 7, 1996.
Nan was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Argyle and shared her love of music by singing and directing the children’s choir and Christmas programs. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and attended many sporting events and concerts.
She is survived by two children, Bobbi (Brian) Iversrud of Bloomington, MN and Becki (Bill) Sczepanski of Stephen, MN, six grandchildren, Barrett (Katie) Sczepanski, Blake (Nicki) Sczepanski all of Stephen, MN, Brady Sczepanski of Detroit Lakes, MN, Billi Jo (Broc Trosen) Sczepanski of Grand Forks, ND, Marissa Iversrud of Portland, OR and Charlie (Katelyn) Iversrud of Eagan, MN, nine great-grandchildren, Jacob Sczepanski, Avery Sczepanski, Simon Sczepanski, Stella Sczepanski, Lyla Sczepanski, Olivia Sczepanski, Maclyn Sczepanski, Josie Trosen and William Trosen, sister-in-law Marion Anderson, brother-in-law Donald Anderson; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents; brothers Burke and Chuck; sisters Marjorie Reierson and Lucille Beaudry, granddaughter Bayli Sczepanski, brothers-in-law Edward Anderson, Don Reierson, Jerry Amundgaard and Bob Beaudry, sisters-in-law Adla Anderson, Billie Stewart, Connie Brooks, Shirley Anderson and Lois Amundgaard.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Community Presbyterian Church, Argyle, MN.
VISITATION: One hour before services.
INTERMENT: Woodlawn Cemetery, Argyle, MN.
