Anna Mae Nelson

Anna Mae Nelson, 89, of East Grand Forks, MN, formerly of Warren, MN, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 14, 2020 at Edgewood Vista in East Grand Forks, MN.

Anna Mae Maurstad was born on March 11, 1931 in Bowesmont, ND, the daughter of Ole and Olga (Andeen) Maurstad. She moved with her family as an infant to rural Argyle, MN where she attended Riverside Country School. Anna Mae married David Buchner on December 16, 1949 and they made their home in Warren. David died in 1953.  On October 28, 1954, she married Arlie Nelson. They made their home in Radium, MN until they moved to Warren in 1979. Arlie died in 1990. Anna Mae moved to East Grand Forks in 1998. She worked at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, MN, Good Samaritan Center in Warren and at Town Square serving meals in East Grand Forks.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Warren and Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. Anna Mae also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and she volunteered as a foster grandparent in East Grand Forks.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Allen (Marlene) Buchner of Warren, MN and Cheryl (Jerry) Knutson of Grand Rapids, MN; twelve grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Cordts of Grand Forks, ND and Alice Grochowski of Inver Grove Heights, MN; brother, Arnie (Iris) Maurstad of Argyle, MN and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Olga; husbands, David and Arlie; sons, Darwin Nelson and Eddie Nelson; sisters, Lorraine Karr and Jean Wendel and brothers, Leslie, Myron, Maurice, Peter, Milford and Arvin.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Due to the limited number of people allowed at the church, private family services will be on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.

VISITATION: Public visitation on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warren, MN

INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN
