Anna Mae Swanson, 92, of Warren, MN, formerly of Argyle, MN, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at North Valley Health Center in Warren, MN.
Anna Mae Widner was born on October 8, 1928, in Argyle, MN, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Erickson). She was raised in Argyle and attended the local high school, working as a school secretary following graduation. On July 29, 1947, Anna Mae was united in marriage to M. Dale Swanson after his return from WWII. They made their home together in Argyle where they raised two sons. Over the years, Anna Mae was active in her church, Our Savior's Free Lutheran, and worked as a clerk at both the local grocery store and bank. In 2014, Anna Mae and Dale moved to Warren, MN; and Dale passed away on September 19, 2017.
Always supportive of Dale, Anna Mae was a helpful and loving spouse and mother. She loved and so appreciated her family, both immediate and extended, frequently sharing her gift of cooking and baking with them (along with plenty of others). She enjoyed the Swanson family's annual tradition of gathering on Lake Superior's north shore: a tradition they carry on today.
Left to mourn her passing is her son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Deborah Swanson of Grand Forks, ND; two grandchildren, Geoffrey Swanson of Minneapolis, MN and Stephanie (fiance, Michael Maragos) Swanson of Washington, D.C.; sister-in-law, Lois Dufault; and her nieces and nephews.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents; son, Lynn C. Swanson who was killed in action on May 13, 1969 in Vietnam; infant son in April of 1952; and siblings, Clarence (Maxine) Widner, and Beulah (Gordon) Olson.
Memorials are Preferred to North Valley Health Center, Warren.
