Arleen (Fagerstrom) Barnes

Arleen Barnes, 85, of Hinckley, MN, formerly of Warren, MN, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, in her daughter's home, under care of hospice.

Arleen Ruth Fagerstrom was born on March 3, 1935, in Warren, to Elmer and Ebba (Burseth) Fagerstrom. She began high school attending the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN, and graduated from Warren High School in 1953. She moved to Minneapolis, where she attended the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing, earning her certificate in 1956. Arleen worked at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

On August 17, 1963, Arleen was united in marriage to Donald R. Barnes, in Warren. They made their home back in the Twin Cities, before buying a farm and moving to Braham, MN, in 1971. She was active at Maple Ridge Evangelical Free Church for many years. After she retired, Arleen was involved in many service projects with the Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service group.

In addition to always having a puzzle going, Arleen enjoyed crocheting and made many, many beautiful doilies over the years. In 2003, she and Don moved to her hometown of Warren, where Don passed away in 2007. Arleen continued living in town for awhile, before moving to Hinckley, MN, to be near her daughter.

Arleen is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Dan) Nelson; grandchildren, Stacey, Dustin (Amy), Courtney (Tony), Kyle, and Brayden; two great-grandchildren, Ryker and Hadley; siblings, Donna, Robert (MonaRae) and Lloyd (Dawn); and sister-in-law, Prue.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; son, Michael Barnes; and brother Bill.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held this Saturday at 1:00 PM, at Clover Community Church in Hinckley, MN.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, on Friday, May 29, 2020, at 1:00 PM.
