Arlyn Stengrim, 73, of Warren, died after making peace with his Lord, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in Benedictine Living Community Nursing Home, Ada, MN.
Arlyn Herbert was born on July 10, 1948, on the family farm in Foldahl Township, Marshall County, MN, to Herbert and Annie (Haug) Stengrim. One of six children, Arlyn grew up working on the farm and graduated from Argyle High School in 1968. In 1969, Arlyn was engaged to Judith Ann Olson. A year later, on May 9, 1970, the two were married and made their home together in Warren, where Arlyn lived his entire adult life.
Over the years, Arlyn worked various jobs around the area in welding and manufacturing. He worked for nearly a decade at Artic Cat. Though a welder by trade, Arlyn was happiest when behind the wheel of a tractor. He truly enjoyed working the fields for area farmers.
Arlyn was well-known around town and always had time for small talk, a long story, or a joke. He was active in Kongsvinger Lutheran Church of Oslo and served as a trustee for a number of years. In his free time, Arlyn liked to camp and hunt when it was warm; and ride his snowmobile, grooming trails with the Warren Snocat Club in the winter. He was blessed with one grandson who was his pride and joy. He treasured the time he got to spend with his grandson, Nathan, and always called him his “Little Little Boy.”
He is survived by his daughters, Carol (JR) Buzalsky of Fargo, ND, and DeAnn (Craig) Bushor of Grand Forks, ND; grandson, Nathan Bushor of Grand Forks; brothers, Roy (Shirley), Marvin, Orris (Mary), and Glen Stengrim; sister, Jean (Ralph) Edgar; in-laws, Ken (Anita) Olson, and Marlene (DelRoy) Shane; many nieces and nephews; and several God Children.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, Judy, who died on November 15, 2014, Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Annie; Judy's parents, Kermit and Mildred Olson; and sisters-in-law, Peggy (Vern) Sandberg, and Patricia Stengrim.
