Barb Anvinson, 78, of Union Lake, MN, died on Tuesday afternoon, September 7, 2021, in her home under care of hospice.
Barbara Ann was born on September 3, 1943, in Grand Forks, ND, to Leonard and Florence (Sabe) Moen. She grew up in Gilby, ND, and attended the local high school graduating in 1961. That same year, on August 26, Barb was united in marriage to Timothy Anvinson, in Larimore, ND.
The couple made their home in Oslo, MN, and later in Grand Forks, and East Grand Forks. Following the seasons, they wintered in Palm Springs, CA and spent summers on Union Lake. Barb was active in the TEC catholic youth program and even traveled to Denver to see Pope John Paul II. In her free time, she enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, spending time at the lake with her family, and furnishing her home each time she moved.
Over the years Barb made many connections, working for the Grand Forks Country Club, the UND Alumni Office, Oslo Public Schools, Sacred Heart Church, East Grand Forks Public Schools, and Northland Technical College. She and Tim were longtime members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oslo, later at St. Joseph's in Fertile. They moved to live full time at Union Lake in 2006.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Timothy; children, Kyle (Dennis) Erickson, Todd (Dori) Anvinson, Kim (Chad Stevermer) Anvinson, and Chad (Nikki) Anvinson; eight grandchildren (and nieces and nephews) who will never forget “Grandma's Pancakes”, Taylor and Colton, Sydney and Emma, Hannah and Kylie, Rachel and Alyssa; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Lynette (Robert) Montgomery of Grand Forks; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Florence Moen.
