Betty Laurin Obituary

Betty Laurin, 81, of Argyle, MN, went to be with the angels on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in North Star Manor of Warren, MN, three days before her 82nd Birthday.

Born on November 15, 1943, to Carl and Agnes (McFarland) Fodness, Betty was raised in Stephen, MN where she graduated from high school. Betty married Gene Laurin on November 16, 1963 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and they made their home on the Laurin farm in rural Argyle. They were blessed to welcome two sons, Mitch and Randy, into their hearts and home through the gift of adoption. She found her true calling when she became a grandmother to Blake, Brady, and Jenna. She loved when they would spend time with her at the farm and spoiled them with their favorite homemade goodies and treats. She was overjoyed with the addition of two great-grandsons, Zeno and Kade, and loved the time she got to spend with them.

Betty enjoyed reading, gardening, embroidery, and was an excellent seamstress. Betty loved spending time with family, especially at the lake, and an occasional trip to the casino, and after Gene’s passing enjoyed the trip of a lifetime to Disney with her son Randy and his family. In recent years, following their move to town and Gene’s death on November 18, 2017, Betty found community with her Coffee Ladies every morning at Argyle’s HOPE Center.

The weekend before she entered into eternal life, Betty gave the gift of a beautiful day with her family, feeling good and letting them know of her love.

Betty has been reunited with her husband, Gene; her son Mitchell; and her parents and siblings.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Randy & Susie Laurin of Grand Forks; and her grandchildren, Blake (Kylie) Laurin of East Grand Forks, Brady Laurin, and Jenna Laurin both of Fargo, ND, and her great-grandchildren, Zeno and Kade. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Fodness; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Ken) Gruhot and Ila Fodness; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at North Valley Health and North Star Manor for the excellent care she received.

Memorials preferred to the Argyle HOPE program or North Valley Health Center.
