Bill Bossman Obituary

Bill Bossman, 77, life long resident of Warren, MN, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Arthur William Bossman was born on April 15, 1943 in Warren, the son of Arthur and Doris Mae (Bengston) Bossman. He was a graduate of Warren High School where he played football, basketball and golf. Bill got a full scholarship to play football at Concordia College and he was injured his first year. He transferred to NDSU which he attended for one year. On February 20, 1965, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Engelstad. They made their home in Warren. Bill was in the North Dakota National Guard for one year. He started his work career as a brick masons apprentice with Walter Hillman. He was fortunate to work with both his dad and brother, Bob. Bill also worked for Witcher Construction. For most of his career he worked as a foreman for Stretar Masonry traveling throughout MN. Many weekends were spent working doing basements and fireplaces. He was a 50 year member of the International Union of Bricklayers.

In his younger years, his family enjoyed many years of camping. They enjoyed many trips to Medora with cousins and everybody enjoyed his stories and jokes around the campfire. Bill and Yvonne had many good years at Breeze Campground in Park Rapids where they made many longtime friends.

Golf was his true love. He had Stacy and Chris golfing as soon as they were walking. He enjoyed endless rounds of golf with his brother and best friend, Bob. Bill won several tournaments and he was know to be on the course rain or shine and even snow.  He had two hole in ones on hole number 4 in Warren.  Bill loved taking his grandchildren to the golf course and giving them lessons. He laughed when he told them as they got older that if they beat him in front of his friends, it would be the last time they could come to Warren to play! However, when Maddie beat him for the first time, he couldn't stop smiling. He also enjoyed reading, gardening and playing pinochle with family and friends.

Bill loved his daughter, Stacy and son, Chris unconditionally. The loss of Chris was very difficult for him. His son-in-law, David, is like a son and always willing to help. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He rarely missed any of their sporting or church activities. He loved it all. He was beyond proud when his first great-grandson, Raiden Knutson, was born. Bill shared over 55 wonderful years with his wife, Yvonne. Bill had health issues over the last several years and he was able to stay at home because Yvonne would have it no other way. Health wise, Bill had more lives than a cat.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Warren American Legion and Warren Jaycees. Bill was very proud of his years with the Warren Volunteer Fire Department and Warren Riverside Country Club Board where he served as President.

Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Yvonne; daughter, Stacy (David) Nicholls of Crookston, MN; four grandchildren, Retten Knutson, Brandal Bossman, Parker Nicholls and Madison Nicholls; great-grandson, Raiden Knutson; sisters, Patricia Hines of Moorhead, MN and Beryl (Ed) Palmer of Warren, MN; brother, Bob (Deanne) Bossman of Warren, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Christofer.
