Charles “Chuck” Steer, 80, of Angus, MN, passed away peacefully late Thursday evening, July 2, 2026, at North Star Manor, with his family by his side.
Charles Edward Steer was born on March 25, 1946, in Warren, MN, to Charles and Ione (Anderson) Steer. He attended Brandt Township Country School, where he first met Kathy Confer. Chuck later attended the Crookston Agricultural College High School, graduating in 1964.
Chuck and Kathy were united in marriage on September 4, 1966. They began their married life in a trailer on the family farm, where they lived for the first five years before purchasing a home in Angus, where they have resided ever since.
A lifelong farmer, Chuck had a deep love for the land and the work it provided. In fact, just a short time before his passing, he was still planting wheat alongside his son, Jeff, and spraying fields with his grandson, Jake. Chuck talked about farming right up until the time of his passing.
Chuck was a faithful member of Angus-Tabor Presbyterian Church and served on the board of the Angus Elevator for many years.
He and Kathy enjoyed camping, traveling together, and making cherished memories on the family's annual trips to Cedar Crest Resort. Above all else, family was Chuck's greatest joy. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he loved attending their activities.
Chuck's greatest love was his wife, Kathy. Throughout nearly 60 years of marriage, his devotion to her never wavered. From the day they were married, he never removed his wedding ring—even when doctors insisted he do so for medical procedures. His refusal was a quiet but lasting symbol of the love and commitment they shared.
Grateful to have shared his life are his beloved wife, Kathy; children, Jeff (Sara) Steer, Michelle (Aaron) Anderson, and Melissa (Chris) Potter; ten grandchildren, Matt (Amy), Chris (Ashlee), Erin (Jessie), Jake (Kelsie), Zach (Faith), Max (Maya), Holly (Cody), McKenna (Ian), Luke and Ava; nine great-grandchildren, Cole, Grayson, Teagan, Carter, Hulett, Jedd, Charlotte, George and Rhett; brother, Russell (Laurie) Steer; sisters, Marlys (Craig) Halfmann, Marilyn (Gerald) Kuznia, and Cheryl Parvey (Fred Holter); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Baby Girl Steer; great-granddaughter, Sienna Anderson; brothers, William Steer and infant brother, Mark Duane Steer.
