Chuck Baird

Chuck Baird, 71, of Warren, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Charles Lee Baird was born on June 13, 1954 in Warren, the son of William and Jeannette (Blodgett) Baird.  He was raised in Warren where he graduated from Warren High School in 1972.  On October 4, 1974, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Kotrba. They made their home on a farm in Farley Township, Polk County, MN where they lived their entire 51 years of marriage. Chuck worked for several farms including for his dad, Baird Farms and R & R Farms. He also installed flooring and worked at the Warren American Legion for many years.  

Chuck was a simple man who would give you the shirt off his back. Some people might say he looked like a mountain man. He enjoyed his dogs, especially Loki, Lilly, Buckshot, Marvin and Punky.  He also enjoyed cutting/splitting wood to keep his woodstove blazing hot in the winter to warm up after his frequent snowmobile excursions. Ice fishing and playing cards were some of his favorite pastimes, and his four grandsons are certainly going to miss their adventures with "Papa Chuck."  Chuck was an accomplished sausage maker and he took great pride in the onions that he grew in his garden.  After a hard day of work, he enjoyed shop time with his family and friends.

He was a proud long time member of the Warren Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the Thief River Falls Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Yvonne; two daughters, Amy Baird Rau and Angie (Dustin) Braaten; grandsons, Braeden Rau, Jace Baird, Colten Rau and Jaxson Braaten; sisters, Judy (John) McGovern and Sandy Baird; brother and sisters-in-law, Ralph Kotrba (Shirley), Jeanne (Don) Jones/Novacek, Cindy Scruggs and Susan Loehrs (Jeff) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jeannette; sister, Susan Morgan; parents-in-law, Ludvik and Gertrude Kotrba; sister-in-law, Kathy Hammer and brothers-in-law, Robert, Roger and Ronald Kotrba.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Grace United Methodist Church in Warren, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services.

INTERMENT: Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Tabor, MN
