Clarence Dau, 84, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Warren, MN, died on Friday, January 22, 2021.
Clarence August Dau was born on March 16, 1936 in Cedar Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of Venus and Ingrid (Borg) Dau. He moved with his family as a young boy to a farm by Viking, MN where he attended country school. Clarence served in the US Army from 1959 – 1961. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Minnesota. On June 11, 1966, he was united in marriage to Marlene Torkelson. They made their home in Warren. Clarence worked as a farm hand and as a mechanic at the local John Deere implement dealer and retired as their Service Manager. Clarence also had his own welding, implement operator, and repair business over the years. Although Clarence only attended school until the 8th grade, he was very inventive and could fix almost any machinery and fabricate iron parts. Clarence was a small aircraft private and commercial pilot. Clarence and Marlene moved to Tucson, AZ in December of 2019 to be closer to family.
He loved Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Clarence was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Warren where he served in many capacities including church chairman. He was involved in the city of Warren including serving on the city council. Clarence was a fire arms safety instructor for 50 years and a member of local Rod and Gun Club.
Clarence enjoyed many activities including restoring Jeeps and machinery, flying airplanes, hunting and being outdoors. He loved his grandchildren most of all.
He is survived by his children, Kevin (Leanna) Dau and Janelle (Jay) Hvidsten; grandchildren, Jack, Hannah, Rebekah, Julia and Levi Hvidsten; siblings, Margaret (Norman) Lindahl, Vernon (Lay) Dau and Carol Meyer and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Marlene; sister, Janice Olson and brother, Kenneth Dau.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Warren, MN.
VISITATION: One hour before the service at the church.
INTERMENT: Next to his wife, Marlene, in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren, MN.
