Clark Klava, 87, of Oslo, MN, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 14, 2023 at
Prairieview in Valley Senior Living on 24th Ave in Grand Forks, ND with his wife and his
precious dog Ginger by his side.
Clark Dale Klava was born on February 10, 1936 in Grafton, ND, the son of Bruce and
Genevieve (Barclay) Klava. He was raised in the Gilby and Forest River ND
area. Clark attended school at Minto Public School, Warsaw Convent School and Gilby
Public School. He served in the National Guard out of Grand Forks for 8 years. On
January 6, 1973, Clark married Jane (Finneman) Wallin at St. Joseph Catholic Church
in Oslo. They made their home in Oslo for over 50 years. Clark worked for J.D.
Miller Farms, the Farmers Coop of Oslo for 28 years, as a USDA grain inspector and for
several years for the City of Oslo.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oslo.
Clark knew everyone and if he didn’t, he would get to know you very quickly and you
would be his friend forever. He couldn’t go anywhere without knowing someone and
that big smile would show up on his face with a conversation and reminiscing about old
times. He may have had to withstand years of dementia, but he could always
remember the good ole days right down to every detail. On Sunday’s, you could always
find Clark sitting in the living room with the radio up loud listening to Polka Party music.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Jane; daughter, Karen Cote of Oslo, MN; two
grandchildren, Jacob and Alyssa; siblings, Gloria (Charles) Church of Ponsford, MN,
Dr. William (Kathy) Klava of Fargo, ND and Mary (Russ) Armstrong of Wheaton, MN
and many nieces and nephews and his constant companion, Ginger, his beloved dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Genevieve Klava and many aunts,
uncles and cousins.
We would like to extend our utmost gratitude and thanks to everyone who cared for
Clark at Prairieview at Valley Senior Living on 24th. We are forever grateful to you for
the love, grace and patience you showed Clark and our family while carrying out your
dedicated duties, but most of all the friend he found in each one of you.
