Curtis Anderson Obituary

Curtis Anderson, 87, of Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday morning, July 26, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.

Curtis Rae Anderson was born on May 16, 1933 on the family farm in McCrea Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of Edwin C. and Hannah (Berg) Anderson. Curtis was Baptized at McCrea Lutheran Church and Confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He started school in a one room school at County School District 88 in McCrea Township, attended school at Warren Public School and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1951 when his family moved to his grandparents' farm in rural Viking, MN. After graduation, he worked construction on the first pumping station in Viking. Curtis enlisted in the US Army in July of 1952 and he was assigned to Army Security Headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. He was honorably discharged in July of 1955 as a Master Sargent. On October 12, 1957, Curtis married the love of his life, Lillian Troland. They made their home in Thief River Falls, MN until moving to Warren in 1958. Curtis ran a service station with his brother, Dennis, from 1959 – 1976, drove school bus and was a rural mail carrier. After retiring from the Post Office, he enjoyed working for area farmers.

He was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, was active in the Warren American Legion, Post #27, twenty year member of the Warren Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the VFW of East Grand Forks.

Curtis enjoyed camping at Lake of the Woods with family and friends. He especially enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Curtis loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and family time during the holidays with all the food and games.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife of sixty-two years, Lillian Anderson of Warren, MN; three children, JoDell (Dan) Poolman and Shelly (Bob) Conely all of Warren, MN and Heidi (Derek) Ebertowski of Grand Forks, ND; six grandchildren, Becky LaBine, Michael Poolman, Brooke Olson, Tanner Conely, Taylor Ebertowski and Casey Ebertowski; great-grandchildren, Mya, Ashtyn and Landon LaBine and Haven Olson and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Devin Duckstad and brothers, Dennis Anderson and Marlin Anderson.

 

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.

VISITATION: 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN and one hour before services at the church on Friday.

INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN

MILITARY SERVICE: Warren American Legion Post #27 and Minnesota Honor Guard

Capacity of Our Savior's Lutheran Church is 100 for funeral service. All CDC guidelines will be be followed and masks are required to attended services at church.
