Curtis "Curt" Myrfield

Curt Myrfield, 76, lifelong resident of Warren, MN, died in his home the day after his birthday, June 15, 2026, at the end of a long series of health complications.

Curtis D. Myrfield was born on June 14, 1950, to Oscar and Louise (Kile) Myrfield, at the old hospital in town. Curt enjoyed working with his hands from an early age, and though he planned to be a carpenter, he always thought of himself as an artist. He worked for a number of builders, learning the practical side of woodwork, while also learning to appreciate craftsmanship and the sheer beauty of wood itself. He graduated from Warren High School in 1969, then attended Moorhead Technical College for carpentry.

On June 19, 1971, he was married to Deborah Wages, whom he'd dated since they were kids. Not yet 21, his parents had to sign the marriage certificate for him, and he and Deb moved to Fargo for a few years. By the time their children started to arrive, the young couple moved back to Warren to have family and friends nearby.

While Curt returned to working for area builders, he also began to build his own home in the evenings with the help of his Father. Board-by-board, he made sure the house was exactly according to his specifications. Curt truly enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and taxidermy. He made birdhouses, carved flowers, stripped diamond willow into quilt ladders, taxidermy of many birds and fish, and other projects. Curt also remodeled the home as needed: if the girls were at-odds with each other, one bedroom suddenly had a newly-built wall down the center and became two bedrooms. He remodeled the whole home three times as their seasons of life changed. For most of his career he was, in his words, a “precision cabinet maker.” In the later part of his career he worked at Nordic Fiberglass in Warren as a builder.

Curt was proud of his early achievements, including memberships in the Lions, the Jaycees, Warren Volunteer Ambulance, Warren Volunteer Fire Department and involved in teaching Sunday school at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

All said, at the time of his passing, Curt still had projects in-process, things yet to be made, and a head full of artwork still to be dreamed, created, and given to his grandkids. The last week of life he attended a family reunion, hugged everyone, and told them all he loved them.

Curt is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Deb; daughters, Jeanna (Chad) Kujava, Brenda Myrfield, and Mary (Daniel) Lizakowski; grandchildren, Cora (Blake) Wallevand, Jarrett (Malory) Kujava, Julia Kujava, Addy, Paisley, and Scarlett Lizakowski; sisters, Bev (Dick) Karr and Marcia (Paul) Baynes; and in-laws, Gay (John) Oehlke, Terri Smith, Mary (Gary) Warner, Karlene Wages, Eleanor (Dean) Peterson, and Kenny, Kevin, and Craig (Tammy) Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darrell and a stillborn Baby Boy (d. 08/13/1973) who will be re-interred alongside his father, reunited once again.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM, hosted by First Lutheran Church, Warren, MN, Pastor Amber Kalina of Our Savior's Lutheran, presiding.
A RECORDING will be made available.
VISITATION: One hour prior.
INTERMENT: McCrea Lutheran Cemetery, rural Warren, MN.
