Dale Osowski, 68, of Oslo, MN, went to be with his Lord early Wednesday morning at home, October 2, 2024.
Dale John Osowski was born on January 15, 1956, in Grafton, ND, the son of John and Marie Blanche (Campbell) Osowski. He was raised in the Oslo area and started school in Oakwood, ND before graduating from Oslo High School in 1974. On June 8, 1979, Dale married Cheri Anderson at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oslo. They were the first couple to be married in the new church. Dale and Cheri made their home on the Osowski family farm near Oslo and raised three daughters.
As a “girl-Dad,” Dale brought his daughters with him into the world of farming. Having Grandpa John on-hand to help, the three-generations would work the earth, a daughter inevitably in the combine or tractor, alongside the driver. They farmed wheat, soybeans and sugar beets. The family enjoyed snowmobiling (this being how he met Cheri) and he was blessed to have girls that enjoyed being towed in a sled; either calmly enough to fall asleep or holding on for dear life! Their place at Strawberry Lake was not just a getaway from the farm, but where many memories were made- though Dale only wanted to go if the children and grandchildren were coming, too.
Dale was a man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed visiting about almost anything with almost anyone, and you were likely to be met with a smirk beneath his mustache that positively lit up his face. The community was important to Dale and he helped the Oslo Lions serve senior suppers and fish fries for many years. He was a member of the Sugar Beet Growers Association and a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Even in these last three years as his health declined, Dale appreciated a drive in the Ranger to check on the crops, being sure to pass a little judgment on any implement that wasn't John Deere green.
Harvest comes every year and what has grown all this time must be taken up. Dale's final harvest is one of both sorrow and joy: sadness in his swift departure, but joy in all that he leaves behind him- both in the soil and in the hearts of those who love him. He loved well and was well-loved.
Dale is survived by his wife Cheri; three daughters, Tami (Travis) Knudson, Manvel, ND, Holly (Brian) Gowan, Manvel, ND, and Ashley (Troy) Solem, Ardoch, ND; grandchildren, Jacob Knudson, Caden, Callie and Chloe Gowan, Kaizley, Moxin and Ryzer Solem; sister, Marlene (Pat) Flynn of Eagan, MN; brothers, Jack Osowski of Warren, MN, and Earl Osowski of East Grand Forks, MN; aunt, Jane Osowski of Grand Forks, ND; mother-in-law, Evelyn Anderson of Grand Forks, ND; brother-in-law, Mickey (Lareen) Anderson of Sawyer, ND; sisters-in-law, Lori (Lowell) Stave of Grand Forks, ND, Cindy (Paul) Stave of Grafton, ND, and Sue (Bobby) Hass of Mekinock, ND; lifelong friends (brothers) Neil (Michele) and Orin Knutson, Oslo, MN; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Blanche Osowski; his sister, Karen Osowski; niece Maria Flynn; father-in-law, Edward Anderson; and son-in-law, Joshua Gowan.
