David Weber, 69, of Warren, MN, died peacefully in his sleep during his third bout with cancer on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
David was born on May 10, 1955, in Minot, ND, to Clemence and Esther (Roller) Weber. The family moved soon after to Warren- David's home until his last day. In 1970, David met the new girl in town, Lori Skorseth, and the two were inseparable. They were married in Grace United Methodist Church on January 10, 1975. Then soon there after their only child, Gwendolyn Rae (known only to a few that he named her after his favorite comic book character's first girlfriend, Gwendolyn Stacy in the marvel comic Spider-Man) was born. He was a bricklayer for the Bossmans for several years before beginning his career working for the city. David never left Warren and never felt the need to, instead feeling duty-bound to care for its residents. He worked in the sanitation department for decades and was Warren's emergency manager from 1996-1998, serving during the worst of the flooding. Approachable and fair, David was proud of his service to his community and found his time on the Warren Volunteer Ambulance (1986-1999) to be especially valuable.
In his free time, David enjoying being a bit of a computer “geek,” doing yardwork, teaching Gwen what he knew (she eventually out geeked the geek.), and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to all this, one of his great achievements was his sobriety: David was a recovered alcoholic for 31 years. Even through his health struggles and previous battles with cancer, David maintained his sobriety and was willing to talk with anyone going through the same struggles he worked so hard to overcome.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Lori; his only daughter (of whom he was very proud), Gwendolyn Salmon; three grandchildren, Chase Salmon (Lexi) and Autum Salmon (Dakota), and Lilly Oberg; and three great-grandchildren, with another on-the-way.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Esther; step-mother, Florence (nee. Jenkins); sister, Mari Lee Crocker; his angel granddaughter, Kayla; in-laws, David and Ellen Skorseth; and many Weber, Jenkins, and Skorseth relatives, along with friends and coworkers.
