Deanna Swanson Obituary

Deanna Swanson, 82, of Warren, MN, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at her winter home in Mesa, AZ.

Deanna Fae Warner was born on June 24, 1939 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Alvin and Violet (Hartje) Warner.  She was raised in Pembina, ND and graduated from Pembina High School.  Deanna received her Standard Degree from Valley City State College and Bachelor of Science Degree from Bemidji State University.  On August 13, 1960, she married Roy Swanson at Pembina Lutheran Church in Pembina.  They made their home in Warren where Deanna worked at the Warren Elementary School as a teacher, Thief River Falls Library as a librarian and at the Marshall County Group Home.  Roy died on December 12, 2004.  Deanna continued to live in Warren and spent her winters in Mesa, AZ. She met Jerry Leenerts at their community in Mesa, AZ in 2019.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, active in quilting and was past president of WELCA.  Deanna was also a Boy Scout Leader (Webelows), Girl Scout Leader (Brownies) and a member of the Warren American Legion Auxiliary where she was past president.  She was active at Orangewood Shadow Park with quilting, Christmas tree gift giving and the activity office.  She helped organize the Red Hat Society at the Park.

Left to mourn her passing are her daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Frank Konchan of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter-in-law, Lisa Swanson of Middle River, MN; four grandchildren, Bethany (Tom) Woiteshek of Scottsdale, AZ, Sean Konchan of New York City, NY, Rebecca Konchan (Karl Boscacci) of Scottsdale, AZ and Brady Swanson of Minneapolis, MN; siblings, Deborah (Douglas) Vosper of Neche, ND; Dennis Warner (Betty Wilkening) of Pembina, ND; and companion, Jerry Leenerts of Mesa, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Violet; husband, Roy, son, Tim Swanson, daughter, Tammy Swanson, grandson, Daniel Konchan; sisters, Sharon Warner and Doris Stranger; niece, Sherry Stranger; sister-in-law, Shirley Anderson Hyslop and brothers-in-law, Lynn Stranger and Byron Anderson.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at First Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services at the church.

INTERMENT: Next to her husband, Roy, in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren, MN.
