Delores Guillemette, 59, of Argyle, MN, passed into eternal life on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in Sanford Hospital on Broadway, Fargo, ND. She made her exit surrounded by the love of her family, and in perfect Delores style, with a tornado warning just to keep things interesting.
Delores Bernadette was born on December 5, 1962, in Warren, MN, one of six children born to Daniel and Lila (Foss) Kostrzewski. She was raised in Argyle's “Frenchtown” and was close with all of her extended family and friends nearby. She had hoped to marry Donny Osmond, but instead met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Guillemette, in 1979 at the county fair. After graduating from Argyle High school in 1981, Delores and Richard were married on July 31, 1982. After moving away and finding they wanted to be by family, they moved home to Argyle in May of 1983, living in the same house their whole married life. Delores worked with chiropractic medical records for Dr. King in Grand Forks, and later Dr. Anderson in Stephen, MN. When the kids were young, Delores stayed home with them. After they were grown, she worked in medical records for North Valley Health Center in Warren.
Anyone who knew Delores knew that she loved others with a special type of ferocity that was only matched by her warmth. Her smile could make anyone feel important and loved- and her ability to fight for those she loved was scary at times! She was kind and generous, and loved to laugh (especially with her sisters)- and if she laughed until she cried, all the better. Delores had a huge family, and she welcomed anyone into it: “family” was truly family. Holidays were spent with the whole clan, Delores in the middle of it all; and family vacations (in Griswold fashion) were made into memories with her help. She had a special love for her grandchildren and would drop anything in the world for them.
Her knack for creativity and competitiveness drove Delores to become an self-taught interior decorator. She and her sisters and sisters-in-law mentored each other and were always free to take advice (or criticism) from Delores, who had a great sense of style and could execute any TV designer's plans for a tenth of the price. She loved to shop, and could find bargains that begged belief: if you wanted a good deal, get Delores involved! Her garden was ever-changing, and she loved to keep it just as perpetually updated as her home. Flower beds were re-planted and rotated almost as frequently as the walls were re-papered or painted.
Delores' big, tireless, fun-loving, and passionate heart will be missed by many and cherished by all.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Richard; children, Danie (Jamie) Remmick, Sabrina (James) Mokszycke, and Ritchie (Rylie) Guillemette; grandchildren, Eve, Lila, Bailey, Gabe, Emmy, and Ellie; siblings, Diane (Kenny) Pawlowski, Linda (Donnie) Hamrick, DeWayne (Debbie) Kostrzewski, Jeff (Cheryl) Kostrzewski, and Shelly (Paul) Hlucny; many nieces and nephews; and all of her Guillemette extended family.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Daniel and Lila; step-father, Tony Ignaszewski; several aunts and uncles; and nephew, Joey Kostrzewski.
