Diane Durand

Diane Phyllis LaFond was born on January 13, 1947 in Argyle, the daughter of Harry and Alice May (Poolman) LaFond.  She passed away early Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024 at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, ND.  She was raised in Argyle and graduated from Argyle High School. Diane also attended and graduated from the cosmetology program at Thief River Falls AVTI.  She married Gary Durand on May 8, 1965 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Argyle.  They made their home in Argyle where she owned and operated the Hair Care Center. She was a proud business owner who took great pride in serving her clients and building relationships for over 30 years.  She always had a special place in her heart for her Marshall County Group Home customers.

Diane loved to play bingo.  She never met a card or dauber she did not like, and she may have been upset a time or two to see a game end with her number mocking her in the monitor.  She also loved doing puzzles, playing various card games and crocheting.  She took great pride in crocheting different things she would give to family and friends.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and one of Argyle's many Birthday Clubs.

Diane and Gary did everything together.  They enjoyed spending summers at the lake with their family.  They treasured their time with their five grandchildren. They loved their trips with family and friends to Las Vegas, NV.  They spent their winters in Arizona where they looked forward to their happy hours with their winter friends who came from various parts of the U.S.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Shelly (Brad) Grochow of Mitchell, SD, Susie (Randy) Laurin of Grand Forks, ND and Chad (Heidi) Durand of Moorhead, MN; five grandchildren, Brady and Jenna Laurin, Carson, Cullen and Oliver Durand; siblings, Beverly Rogus, Judy Safranski and Doug (Nancy) LaFond and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary and siblings, Angel Sczepanski and Jeanne Olson.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Argyle, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services at the church.

INTERMENT: Woodlawn Cemetery - Argyle, MN
